30 Day Song Challenge: Day 13
A song that is a guilty pleasure:
“Someone Wake Me Up” - Joe McElderry

-

Okay, it’s not just “Someone Wake Me Up” by Joe McElderry that is my guilty pleasure.. his whole album, “Wide Awake”, is my guilty pleasure. I absolutely love it. I think this songs are absolutely fantastic, and really commerical but I think the reason his music career wasn’t a sucess because the radio refused to play him because he doesn’t have the “cool factor” about him, which people like Alexandra Burke has. Joe does have that “reality TV factor” about him, which I think he won’t be able to squash, unlike previous contestants like Leona Lewis, but I think Joe’s got a fantastic voice and brilliant debut album!

His debut single, “The Climb” and follow up, “Ambitions” are both in my ‘Top 25 Most Played Songs’ on my iTunes, but as bad as it sounds, I don’t admit to my friends that I listen to his music. Bad times. But I’m not afraid to say that his debut album is one of my favourites of 2010, I LOVE it!

I’m hoping he’ll release another original album in the near future, and follow the same sort of music path, and not decide to release a “covers” album or something. I like Joe, I love his music, I’ve even seen him live in concert, so I’m hoping he’ll be back in the music industry soon..  with some more amazing pop songs!

Incredible. Here’s The Saturdays performance from yesterday’s T in the Park, and they were awesome, especially Rochelle vocally, and it’s so good to see Vanessa’s vocals are back on track after a shakey few weeks during the Notorious promotion.

I’m off to V Festival at the end of August, and The Sats are performing and oh gosh, I am so excited after seeing this now! The aim for my friends and I is to get to the front during The Sats and scream, dance, shout, love everything they’re doing on stage! Bring. It. On!

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 12
A song from a band you hate:
“Forever Young” - One Direction

-

Where do I begin? The band have been put together for less than 12 months, and already they’re the cockiest bunch of individuals I’ve ever come across. They have yet to release any music, but already they have an autobiography out, merchandise in HMV, and a tour across the UK planned.. how is this possible? My dislike for One Direction came during the X Factor live shows when you could clearly see that they believed (and Simon believed) they were guaranteed to win the show - if you don’t agree check the results when they come in 3rd place and they all look at Simon like “WTF” - priceless.

I was watching some of their video diaries a little while ago, and they all come across as hugely cocky and arrogant, especially the one with the long fringe who never sings. The reason why I dislike these guys so much is the fact that they’ve obviously been grown up since being put together being told “you guys are incredible, you guys are the next big thing” by Simon, so they’ve started to believe their own hype, and they’ve come across as pricks - actual pricks.

I mean, they haven’t released any music, yet they feel it’s necessary to release an autobiography about their “career so far” - what career? You came 3rd on the X Factor - we KNOW you’re career inside an out. It annoys me that bands like this get all this publicity and hype for doing nothing (be honest, they have done nothing), but yet bands who have been working hard for years don’t get the recognition they deserve. I’m 99.9% sure this band will flop after their debut album anyway - just look at X Factor’s 2008 Eoghan Quigg - all the girls worshipped him so he released an album and what happened? Oh yes, it flopped and he got dropped.
